Steve Jobs Signed Check Sold At Auction

In a remarkable auction, a check signed by Steve Jobs during the year Apple was founded has fetched an impressive $106,985 USD at RR Auction. The check, issued by Wells Fargo Bank, was made payable to Crampton, Remke & Miller, INC., a management consulting firm based in Palo Alto, California. Dated July 8, 1976, it was written for the amount of $175 USD.

Steve Jobs’ distinctive cursive signature is clearly visible at the bottom of the check. At the time, the consulting firm’s clientele included notable companies such as Atari, Memorex, National Semiconductor, and Xerox. The check also bears the contact information of Apple Computer Company, displaying its original phone number, “415-326-4248,” and address, “770 Welch Rd., Ste. 154, Palo Alto, CA 94304.” Interestingly, this address corresponds to an answering service and mail drop used by the founding team when they operated from Jobs’ family garage. This was a significant period for Apple, as they had recently developed the Apple-1 and secured their first major order.

The final selling price of $106,985 USD far exceeded the initial estimates, which had placed the value around $25,000 USD. The demand for vintage Apple products has been exceptionally high in recent times, as evidenced by RR Auction’s successful sales of signed Apple II Manuals, Jobs’ personal Apple-1 Computer, and autographed letters, all fetching sky-high prices.

This sale serves as a testament to the enduring fascination and collectability of Apple memorabilia, particularly items associated with the early days of the iconic company and its visionary co-founder, Steve Jobs.
