JACQUEMUS FW23 RTW
Simon Porte Jacquemus, the creative force behind the eponymous label Jacquemus, has once again captured the fashion world’s attention with a stunning showcase of his Fall 2023 collection titled “LE CHOUCHOU.” The much-anticipated event took place at the illustrious Palace of Versailles, a location steeped in history and grandeur.
As guests, including renowned figures like Victoria and David Beckham, Manu Rios, Monica Bellucci, Eva Longoria, Emily Ratajkowski, and Claire Foy, gathered at the venue, it became evident that this show held significant importance. The presence of such notable celebrities not only highlighted the brand’s cult following but also emphasized the exclusivity of the event. Only a select few fashion houses, such as Dior and Chanel, have had the privilege of using the Palace of Versailles as a backdrop for their campaigns.
Simon Porte Jacquemus expressed his deep admiration for the location, explaining how it inspired him throughout the design process. In an interview with WWD, he stated, “I was so inspired by this historical place during the design process that it led me to explore many new creative possibilities, different from my past shows, but still very Jacquemus. I am really honored and proud to be able to do a show there, as an independent fashion house. It’s going to be a very special moment for Jacquemus.”
The show itself was nothing short of extraordinary. Guests were seated in rowing boats, creating a unique and picturesque setting. Once the show commenced, a parade of elegance and sophistication graced the runway. Supermodels Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Monica Bellucci’s daughter, Deva Cassel, were among the stars who exuded grace and beauty as they showcased the collection. The looks exuded French excellence and regality, featuring white lingerie sets crafted from transparent lace, tulle, and silk. These delicate fabrics created bustles and peplums, adorning short puffy skirts, intricate bralettes, and captivating nighties.
The accessories in this collection showcased a refined simplicity, highlighting the new House bags with their gold ring handles and minimalist leather designs. Jacquemus deviated from his playful accessories, opting for a more understated elegance that perfectly complemented the aesthetic of “LE CHOUCHOU.” The jewelry pieces in the collection also deserve special mention. Kendall Jenner’s necklace paid homage to Princess Diana’s iconic choker, a symbol of timeless elegance. The collection extended its nods to menswear, where Jacquemus demonstrated his expertise. The menswear pieces exuded sexiness and camp, while maintaining a sense of subtlety. Peplum detailing adorned waistlines, baggy white trousers were paired with cricketer’s polo shirts, and voluminous bomber jackets added a touch of drama.
The “LE CHOUCHOU” collection showcased Jacquemus’ cohesive vision, offering a range of menswear and womenswear pieces that celebrated refinement and experimentation. The meticulous cuts and exquisite details brought each garment to life, capturing the essence of French luxury. Jacquemus once again proved his ability to create captivating and unforgettable runway shows, solidifying his position as a master of fashion theater.
