Emporio Armani SS24 Menswear

Giorgio Armani, renowned for his fashion legacy, presented an Emporio collection that hinted at the upcoming 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics in Paris. The runway at Teatro Armani welcomed a group of Italian Olympic athletes, including Paralympians, who proudly showcased a capsule version of the national kit for the event. The audience, clearly supportive of their home team, erupted in thunderous applause.

While the dominant color palette revolved around tonal shades and deep black, the brightest bursts of color came from the red, white, and green tricolors waved by the athletes.

The collection centered around the motif of a ginkgo leaf, drawing inspiration from traditional Asian attire. The leaf was intricately embroidered as cut-outs on one-and-a-half breasted peak lapel suits paired with wide flowing trousers, as well as adorning lattice-patterned tops. It appeared in matte jacquard on captivating shirt/biker hybrids and shimmered on soft-shouldered, loose golden tunic shirts.

The show featured a segment with tonal knit hoodies matched with draped drawstring pants in a soothing beige hue. This led to a technical segment showcasing sheer greige separates made from silky yet resilient fabrics, complemented by lug-toed sneakers.

Hats held high on the back with harnesses added an edgy touch. The ginkgo leaf made a comeback on hoodies, signaling a return to the essence of Emporio and a series of captivating evening looks, often featuring the horseshoe waistcoat.

These fluid silhouettes, in black or white, gracefully merged the influences of both Asian and European origins, symbolizing the motto of the Olympics: faster, higher, stronger—together.
