Our Favorite Looks From The 2023 Met Gala!
Here are FWC’s favorite looks from this year’s Met Gala honoring the late legendary designer, Karl Lagerfeld. Let’s begin!
Salma Hayek: Salma Hayek’s interpretation of the “in honor of Karl” dress code to the 2023 Met Gala was truly a feat. The ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ actress, wearing Gucci, paired a red patent corset with a matching tiered tulle skirt, and embodied elegance and sexy.
Maybe it’s the pearls, one of Lagerfeld’s Chanel signatures, draped over her shoulders, or the bow at the waist, or the peek-a-boo lace at the center slit or all of it! She took the red hues down to her feet in towering platform pumps that featured block heels elevating her look by at least 6 inches.
Sydney Sweeney: The Euphoria star graced the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Vogue’s 2023 Met Gala on May 1, paying homage to the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld in a nude embellished Miu Miu gown with black bows on the bottoms. Sydney wore her blonde hair neatly tousled and framing her face.
Kim K. & Kylie Jenner: The Kardashians stars made an entrance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Vogue’s annual event on May 1. Kim Kardashian paid homage to the revolutionary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld in a Schiaparelli dress draped in pearls—pulling inspiration from the iconic Chanel beads—from head to toe with a white off-the shoulder cape, while sister Kylie Jenner donned a red Jean Paul Gaultier dress with a matching blue and red oversized silk robe.
Emily Ratajkowski: For the 2023 Met Gala on May 1, the model turned heads as she graced the infamous red steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City wearing a plunging tulle gown by Tory Burch that featured dainty black ribbons adorned throughout. It was a modern take on a 1920s flapper dress.
She completed her ensemble with a sexy smoky eye and voluminous waves that were styled in a half-up, half-down ‘do and wrapped in a black bow.
Emily’s stunning look serves as a worthy follow-up to her look for the 2022 Gilded Glamour-themed gala. In honor of last year’s soiree, the HighLow podcast host rocked a vintage Versace sleeveless asymmetrical dress, which featured a multi-colored, beaded bodice and gold embellishments along the skirt line.
Jessica Chastain: Jessica Chastain brought the drama to Met Gala 2023—and Karl Lagerfeld would have loved it.
In honor of the evening’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” the Oscar winner debuted newly platinum-blonde hair, a drastic change from her signature fiery-red tresses. And be they hers or borrowed for the occasion, Chastain’s locks were the epitome of fierceness—and respect.
“Any guesses who’s my inspo for tonight ?” she captioned a preview of her Elizabeth Stewart-styled look on Instagram, the quick video featuring her slipping on some dark square-lens shades, à la Lagerfeld. The German designer was also known for his snow-white hair, which he always wore pulled back in a ponytail (lots of those at the Met tonight, too).
Chastain’s custom black strapless gown, lack tulle gloves, jewelry and sunglasses were all Gucci.
Ice Spice: She showed up to the 2023 Met Gala looking like an angel in an all-white Balmain gown carrying a crystallized camera clutch as her accessory. Ice Spice owned the carpet with her signature confidence, posing in a figure-hugging dress embellished with ivory sparkles. The floor-length look featured some sultry peaks of nude mesh, making for one of the most glamorous looks we’ve seen on the star. Ice Spice embodied her stage name wearing icy silver jewelry and, of course, her tongue-in-cheek bag of choice.
Dua Lipa: The singer arrived at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 1 in an ivory ballgown with black detailing from Chanel’s Fall/Winter 1992 collection. She completed the glam look with jewels from Tiffany & Co. (See all the red carpet fashions here.)
And Dua isn’t just an attendee at the star-studded event. She’s also one of the co-chairs along with Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer and Vogue’s Anna Wintour.
Gigi Hadid: The supermodel arrived to the 2023 Met Gala on May 1 in an edgy Givenchy ensemble alongside creative director Matthew Williams. Her dress included a black corset top with a sheer train and plenty of pearls, honoring Lagerfeld with her black-and-white color palette and the gemstone associated with Chanel.
Margot Robbie: Margot Robbie swapped Barbiecore pink for a sleek black look at the 2023 Met Gala, which honored the late Karl Lagerfeld. The Barbie star walked the red carpet at the May 1 event in a Chanel dress with an intricate bodice. (See more stars at Met Gala here.)
“This dress was worn by Cindy Crawford in 1993,” she told Vogue of her look. “They remade it for me. And it’s obviously a Karl design and I feel really great in it. I was the last Chanel ambassador that he picked… It is an honor.”
This marks Robbie’s third time attending the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. However, it’s been a few years since she stepped out for fashion’s biggest night.
The last time she attended was the 2016 Met Gala, where she donned an elegant white Calvin Klein dress for its “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology” theme.
Kate Moss: The supermodel, was joined by her daughter Lila Grace Moss Hack at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 1. Clad in coordinating blush pink ensembles by Fendi, the duo exhibited model behavior as they posed together with Kim Jones, the luxury label’s artistic director, on the red carpet.
For fashion’s biggest night, Kate opted for long slip dress with flowy rose sleeves. Meanwhile, Lila had some fun with fur in an ensemble that featured a fuzzy shawl and skirt, as well as a sheer bodice. In a true twinning moment, the mother-daughter duo completed their respective looks with strappy silver heels.
