The MM6 studio, known for its emphasis on continuity, surprises with fresh ideas in its pre-spring 2024 collection.

This season, the collection seamlessly blends dressmaking techniques from a bygone era with the brand’s signature laid-back work-in-progress aesthetic.

The result is a compelling fusion that elevates humble cotton t-shirts with ruched necklines, transforms beige trenches into enveloping cape-like statements, and turns minimalist black twill tops into versatile, timeless pieces suitable for any occasion over the years.

The collection aims to create resonance from apparent opposites. Among the standout pieces is a crinkled silver Tyvek “prom dress” featuring asymmetrical ruffles, made from the same lightweight reflective fabric used on construction site dust sheets. Layered with soft, brushed jersey hoodies and relaxed, slouchy jeans—the beloved staples of MM6—the dress takes on a new dimension.

There are other noteworthy pivots in the collection. Embracing one of the season’s prominent trends, a traditionally masculine tailored vest is softened with quilting, resulting in a utilitarian-leaning garment that offers comfort without sacrificing style.

A black wool jacket held together by a lacquered white safety pin pays homage to punk influences, while leather bralettes and layerable, nearly transparent mesh tops elevate the concept of t-shirts and sweats. An all-encompassing hybrid baseball jacket combines white workwear quilting with a denim torso, exuding a cool and eclectic aesthetic.

Additionally, an archival polka-dot pattern is reimagined as a gauzy, blurred print in shades of blue, turquoise, and neon green, adorning breezy dresses and pleated skirts. Accessories play a key role in the collection, featuring the fourth installment of the ongoing collaboration with Salomon.

The XT-4 shoes boast a single lace system, elevated soles, and accents in purple and teal. The Numeric bag, introduced last season, makes a return in mini and large versions, available in black or seasonal shades of sage or lime green leather. Another iconic MM6 signature, the anatomic shoe, is reintroduced in a green satin ballerina style and as a low boot with a clear resin heel. With its inventive juxtapositions and thoughtful designs, the MM6 pre-spring 2024 collection offers a fresh perspective on contemporary fashion, seamlessly blending the past with the present.
