WhatsApp Now Let’s Users Edit Sent Messages
In response to user demands, WhatsApp has finally unveiled one of its most highly anticipated features: message editing. Mark Zuckerberg, in a recent Facebook post, shared the exciting news that users can now modify a message within 15 minutes of sending it. This new capability grants users the ability to correct misspellings or add additional context to their messages, enhancing the overall chatting experience.
To edit a message, users can simply press and hold on the specific message and select the “edit” option from the menu that appears. Once edited, the message will display an “edited” tag next to the time stamp, indicating that it has been modified. It’s important to note that WhatsApp does not retain a history of corrections, meaning that other users will not be able to see previous versions of the edited messages.
“We’re excited to offer you more control over your chats by introducing message editing. This feature allows you to refine your messages, ensuring accuracy and providing more clarity. To edit a message, tap and hold on the message for a few moments and select the ‘Edit’ option from the menu,” stated the company in a recent blog post.
Previously, users had to resort to either deleting an entire message or sending a separate correction message to rectify any errors. In a further effort to empower users, WhatsApp had extended the time limit for message deletion from 48 hours to 60 hours last year. With the addition of the editing feature, users can now conveniently modify their messages within a 15-minute window, saving time and effort in the process.
