Mortal Kombat 1 Announced

In an exciting announcement, Warner Bros. Games has revealed Mortal Kombat 1, a fresh take on the beloved action-adventure series that has captivated fans for decades.

Anticipation had been building for the next installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise, with many expecting it to be Mortal Kombat 12. The CEO of Warner Bros. Games seemed to support this assumption, referring to the game as Mortal Kombat 12 during a conference call. However, earlier this month, the Mortal Kombat Instagram account shared a video featuring a clock hand skipping 12 and moving directly to 1, leaving fans intrigued and excited.

With this new title, the game will be embarking on a reboot rather than continuing as a sequel. Mortal Kombat 1 will introduce players to a completely reimagined version of the game’s world, characters, and storyline, accompanied by new modes and features. It follows the canon ending of Mortal Kombat 11 and its Aftermath DLC, where the series’ hero, Liu Kang, inherits the powers of Raiden, the God of Thunder, becoming Fire God Liu Kang. He defeats the malevolent keeper of time, Kronika, as well as the wicked sorcerer Shang Tsung, ascending to an omnipotent state with full control over time. With this power, Liu Kang resets time to its beginning, setting the stage for the events of this exhilarating new game.

“It’s In Our Blood. Discover a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by Fire God Liu Kang,” the game’s trailer teases. “Mortal Kombat 1 ushers in a new era of the iconic franchise with a fresh fighting system, game modes, and Fatalities!”

Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to launch on September 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Fans can look forward to diving into this revitalized universe and experiencing an epic fighting adventure like never before.
